Every Door Direct Mail for Services – EDDM for Services
Larger businesses can use Every Door Direct Mail® to send mail to every household in a target area without having to know any addresses. With a mailing permit and entry into one of our Business Mail Entry Units (BMEUs), you can send your message to entire cities or even larger areas.
Our online tool helps you locate customers near your business.
To get started…
-
Step 1: Obtain a Mailing Permit Imprint

Step 2: Log in or Register
If you already use Every Door Direct Mail and you have a USPS® business account on the Business Customer Gateway, simply enter your user ID and Password. You’ll need to make sure your mailing permit is tied to your account on the Business Customer Gateway. For assistance with tying your mailing permits to your Business Customer Gateway account, contact PostalOne!®
If you are a first-time user, you’ll be prompted to create a new USPS business account to get started.
If you need assistance with the tool, our Every Door Direct Mail User Guide (listed on this page) will walk you through the process.
-
Step 3: Define Who You Want to Reach
Our online tool helps you choose your targeted mailing routes by address, city, state, ZIP Code™, or up to a 5-mile radius around your business. You can even use street names or an intersection as your target area.
The tool identifies the number of active residential and business addresses in your target area(s) to estimate postage costs based upon print quantities.
BMEU customers can only pay through their trust fund account.
If you need assistance with the tool, our Every Door Direct Mail User Guide (listed on this page) will walk you through the process.
-
Step 4: Create Your Mailpieces
Once you’ve identified where your mailing is going, you can work with your marketing agency, marketing service provider, or local printer to help you create your mailpieces. Be sure to check the approved specifications for Every Door Direct Mail, including sizes, address formats, and mailing permit (required on each mail piece).
-
Step 5: Let Us Take It From Here
Every Door Direct Mail uses simplified addressing, which is explained in the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®). You can find more information in DMM Section 602.3.2: “Simplified Address” or call your local BMEU. Take your properly prepared mail to the BMEU where the mailing permit is held or ask your printer to take them to the BMEU for you.
Need to reach addresses in other cities or states?
After presenting your Every Door Direct Mail mailings at your local BMEU, you can use Priority Mail Open and Distribute® to transport your Every Door Direct Mail mailings to the Post Office in that area.
